Abstract

The moon persimmon is one of the important fruit crops in southern China, with a cultivation history spanning more than two millennia. It is primarily produced in provinces and autonomous regions such as Guangxi, Hunan, Guangdong, and Fujian. Among these, the moon persimmons grown in Guangxi—especially in PingLe County, GongCheng County, and YangShuo County—are renowned both domestically and internationally for their superior quality, thanks to the region’s favorable geographical conditions, which yield exceptional fresh fruit and dried persimmon cakes.

The moon persimmon is one of the important fruit crops in southern China, with a cultivation history spanning more than two millennia. It is primarily grown in provinces and regions such as Guangxi, Hunan, Guangdong, and Fujian. Among them, the moon persimmons produced in Guangxi—especially in PingLe County, GongCheng County, and YangShuo County—are renowned at home and abroad for their superior quality, thanks to the region’s favorable geographical conditions, which yield both fresh fruit and dried persimmon cakes of exceptional caliber. Today, we will follow the camera into PingLe, Guilin, Guangxi, to uncover the secrets behind the bountiful moon persimmon harvest.

Address: Qiaoting Township, Pingle County, Guilin, Guangxi

Crop condition: Apply Jin Siyuan balanced fertilizer at approximately 8–10 liang per tree, continuing this practice for four consecutive years.

Current situation: After application, the leaves are thick and fully expanded, the fruit is uniform in size with no spots, and each tree yields approximately 1,000 jin of fruit.

Orchards using Sinochem Agro’s products boast uniformly lush, dark-green foliage and vigorous tree growth—a stark contrast to the neighboring orchard. Mr. Wang notes that this year his orchard is exceptionally beautiful, with large, vibrant, thick leaves and a high fruit-set rate, resulting in outstanding yield and quality.

Crop condition: Apply approximately 1–2 jin of Jin Siyuan balanced fertilizer per tree, continuing this application for four consecutive years.

Current situation: After application, leaves become thick and fully expanded, fruit size is uniform with no blemishes, and each tree yields approximately 1,000 jin of fruit. Long-time users have consistently rated this fertilizer as far superior to those offered by other manufacturers.

Next, we visited Mr. Huang’s persimmon orchard. After using Zhongnonghua products, the trees exhibited remarkably vigorous growth, with large, thick leaves that were lush and glossy—both foliage and fruit displayed a deep, vibrant green. The fruit quality was also outstanding, leaving Mr. Huang thoroughly satisfied. He expressed his intention to continue using Zhongnonghua’s all-nutrient special fertilizer and to remain a loyal supporter of our brand.

Address: Qiaoting Township, Guilin, Guangxi

Character: Boss Huang

Crop management: Apply carbon-enzyme ammonium potassium fertilizer (24-0-4) at a rate of 20 bags per 500 trees, split into two applications. The first application should be made around the Qingming Festival, and the second one one month later, with each tree receiving 1.6 jin per application.

Previous issue: No new shoots are produced, fruit enlargement is slow, and the harvest is at least 20 days later than in the neighboring orchard.

Current situation: Rapid shoot and leaf development, vigorous tree growth, and excellent fruit enlargement—currently demonstrating a clear advantage over the neighboring orchard.

[Autumn Base Fertilization] Why is autumn base fertilization recommended for fruit trees?

Fruit trees such as apple and pear trees expend substantial amounts of nutrients and water over the course of a year as they bloom, set fruit, produce new shoots and leaves, and develop expanding fruits and blossoms. A single tree may yield 200 to 300 jin of apples or pears in a year, with the branches and foliage adding another few hundred jin; all of these dry materials are synthesized from the water and nutrients absorbed by the root system. As everyone knows, vigorous trees produce larger fruits, while weak trees yield smaller ones—vigor in the tree reflects vigor in the roots, and weakness in the tree reflects weakness in the roots. Therefore, to cultivate a robust tree, one must first strengthen its roots.

Applying base fertilizer to fruit trees in early autumn offers numerous benefits!!!

The optimal temperature for leaf function is 18–25°C, with peak performance around 25°C. When the diurnal temperature range is large, the nutrients synthesized by the leaves are primarily allocated to storage. In September, daytime temperatures generally stay below 30°C but above 20°C, while nighttime temperatures typically hover in the teens Celsius; therefore, from a timing perspective, applying a base fertilizer in autumn is most advantageous starting in September.
